Meet Maren, Our Program Manager

Uth Siramaren (Maren) is our in-country program manager.  Maren has been with us since 2007, and is our key and only employee.

When the Khmer Rouge reign of terror began in Cambodia, Maren was a young child.  His parents managed to escape bringing him with them to safety at the large Site II Refugee Camp in Thailand.  It was there under hardship circumstances that he received his primary and secondary education.  While still a refugee in 1992, he earned a Bachelor of Management degree at the United Nations Institute of Public Administration.  His post graduate studies include courses in Teachers Education and English.

Returning to Cambodia as a young man, Maren worked for the UN Transitional Authority, two other western NGO’s, and most notably the Committee for Free & Fair Elections in Cambodia (COMFREL).  It was that employment requiring a willingness to fight corruption that convinced Tommy Daniels to hire Maren for our program.

Shortly after joining CCi, Maren, from among hundreds of applicants in less developed countries, was selected as one of only twenty-one candidates chosen to attend the Ford Motor Company International Fellowship for leadership in developing countries, held at the famous 92nd Street “Y” in New York City.
