Overview
Older Students & Sponsors                                                                                           Students Needing Sponsors

The first of Cambodia's highlanders to attain a college education was Yun Mane, a female of the Bunong Tribe in Mondolkiri Province.  Last year she graduated with a Bachelor of Law degree and works on behalf of her people in the UN Development Program.  She also represents hill tribes people whose land has been seized by outsiders, studies for a masters degree, and advises our program as well as our college students one of whom is her younger sister.  Mane's education is attributable to Refugees International which also supports our program and sponsors one of our college students.  Mane's our role model.

The subsequent 20 hill tribe and rural Khmer students of Mondolkiri to
access higher education are from our child's shelter.   The ethnic Khmer among them are from highlander villages, identify more closely with that culture, and will be very important in hill tribe advocacy and bridging the cultural gap.  Our objective is 30 college graduates by Year 2013.  They plus our high school graduates will comprise the educated leadership without which their people will suffer the fate of the American Indian and more tropical forests will be destroyed.

The first CCi college graduate, March 2007:
Chann Bunthan
BS Information Technology
University of Specialties

Sponsor:  Tommy Daniels
,  Pres. USA SF VN
Bunthan is currently working in Mondolkiri assisting our  neighboring non profits with their  IT needs.

In July he'll set up a computer lab in the Bunong Cultural Center adjacent to the child's shelter and teach our secondary school students computer skills.  The Bunong Cultural Center is being established through a grant from BHP Billiton.

In July 2008 five more of our students will graduate from universities with degrees in Civil Engineering, Veterinary Medicine, and Rural Development & Agriculture.  Among them are the 2nd and 3rd of Cambodia's female Montagnards to earn a college degree.  They are Len Sopheap and Yun Ravy, left end of second row in above photo.

To pay the very modest cost of a university education in Cambodia, we depend on an individual sponsor or a closely related group of same for each student.  A  sponsor supports his/her student through degree completion.   Some contributors prefer the College Scholarship General Fund (CSGF) below which enables students without sponsors to start college and those who remain unsponsored to stay in school.

Please support our university scholarship program and contribute towards the survival of the Montagnard culture and their tropical forests.
